Why Refer to a Chronic Stress Specialist?
You've probably experienced working with a client who has difficulty moving forward. This can cause frustration and confusion for both the client and the therapist. My goal is to provide brief interventions to these clients so that they can more successfully engage in more traditional psychotherapy.
Some aspects of issues connected to chronic stress are highly treatable in a relatively short amount of time. Addressing this can be essential for successful long-term therapeutic treatment later on.

When issues connected to chronic stress (like chronic illness/pain, burnout/compassion fatigue, or insomnia) are involved, people often need specialized care that can involve specific protocols or psychoeducation regarding the nervous system's role in moderating disease/illness progression.

The services I offer could be the primary/only therapeutic service the client receives at the time, or it could be adjunctive to other psychotherapy.
I welcome referrals for clients who

-
experience chronic pain or chronic illness
-
struggle with sleep issues that haven't resolved naturally
-
experience high levels of perceived stress
-
are unsure of how to move forward from burnout or compassion fatigue.
Depending on a client's concerns and goals, they could expect to see me between 3-16 sessions.
-
psychoeducation and resourcing for chronic pain/illness could take as little as 3-6 sessions
-
recovering from insomnia using CBT-I might take 5-12 sessions
-
addressing key components of burnout or compassion fatigue could take 5-15 sessions
-
relating to chronic stress differently could be addressed in 3-6 sessions.
